Some older GPS units will route you incorrectly unless you use the actual GPS coordinates.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) is the nearest commercial airport, approximately a one-hour drive by car.
Other nearby airports include:
- Lehigh Valley International Airport, PA (ABE)
- Newark Liberty International Airport, NJ (EWR)
- JFK International Airport, NY (JFK)
- LaGuardia Airport, NY (LGA)
- Philadelphia International Airport, PA (PHL)
- Stewart Airport, New Windsor, NY (SWF)
Domestic flights to AVP typically have a layover at EWR, JFK, DTW, CTL, or PHL. Layovers at EWR and JFK are more commonly canceled due to delay or inclement weather than flights through other domestic airports.
The total air and ground trip may be faster and less expensive to the New York airports than to the Scranton airport, particularly if you are flying internationally
