Renée DeTar

Renée DeTar has been practicing and teaching yoga since 1973. She still studies under her very first Iyengar teacher, Bobbi Goldin, and spent over 24 years studying under Aadil Palkhivala. She completed Structural Yoga Therapy training with Mukunda Stiles, and was initiated in the Himalayan Tradition, under the tutelage of Pandit Rajmani Tigunait and Dr. Rolf Sovik. She was trained in the use of herbs and kinesiology with Hanna Kroeger, and as a medical intuitive in the early '90s with Dr. Norm Shealy. Renée has deeply ingrained the work of Caroline Myss into the foundational coursework of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Yoga Studies. She feels that Caroline's work with archetypal patterns best provides an accessible understanding of the various models of the mind provided by the various yoga philosophies. She completed her Ayurveda Yoga Specialist studies with Kathryn Templeton and continues on with Dr. Vasant Lad. Renée is committed to helping her yoga tribe stay intact in the Midwest by networking and collaborating with local yoga studio owners, so that traditional yoga classes are not wiped out by large corporate yoga. She founded the Institute of Interdisciplinary Yoga Studies in 2001 as the first liberal arts yoga school in the Midwest.
