Liz Shanefield is the founder, owner, and one of many teachers at Sojourn Yoga in Drexel Hill, PA. She opened Sojourn Yoga to build a community of yogis in her neighborhood and share with as many people the benefits of a yoga practice. After a few years of establishing her personal practice, curiosity to discover more about yogic history, philosophy and the physical benefits led her to the path of a yoga teacher. She has developed an approach of teaching and practicing through immersion in study, retreats and workshops on yoga and meditation.
She has completed a 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Himalayan Institute. She completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Verge BodyMind and also completed 100 hours of Yin training at Omega Institute.
Along with her beloved teachers at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania, some influential teachers are Cara Bradley from Verge BodyMind, Johnny Gillespie from Empowered Yoga, Biff Mithoefer from biffmithoeferyoga.com.
Prior to opening Sojourn Yoga, Liz taught yoga and fitness for Villanova University, LA Fitness and as a freelance yoga instructor throughout the Delaware Valley.
“Yoga is not just a class I teach or attend but a part of my daily life and weaved into my whole being. Yoga has given me the strength to embrace challenges, take pride in accomplishments and be more present in my relationships and everyday experiences. As a result of my yoga practice, I can more easily find joy and compassion in my life and appreciate every breath taken and every moment this beautiful life offers to me. I am privileged to be able to share my practice and knowledge of yoga with others.”
