Bhoomi Puja, Groundbreaking Ceremony, at HI Khajuraho

Cross-posted on the Himalayan Institute Kumbha Mela 2013 Blog

We had a wonderful bhoomi puja, ground-breaking ceremony on October 6th at the HI Khajuraho campus in India.

A small group of HI friends from around the world travelled to take part in the ceremony.

It wouldn’t be a true HI celebration without chai tea—cooked over a wood fire!

Construction began in April 2012. Progress on the site continues to move along well, as we approach completion of the first construction phase in the next month. The main Gate, guard rooms, staff quarters, electrical/utility shed, power and water infrastructure, secondary gate and bridge are all complete.

The first buildings on the land, the staff quarters and utility shed, are complete.

Work on site leveling, internal road development, and rear boundary concrete pillars for the solar fencing system is well underway, and will be completed soon. We’re also making great progress on the architectural planning and builder selection for the main construction, which we hope to start in the next 6 weeks!

All are invited to visit HI Khajuraho during the Kumbha Mela celebration in 2013!
