Day 5
Welcome to Day 5 of the cleanse!
Tired of kitchari yet? Mix it up a bit by adding different vegetables or a little vegetable bouillon to the recipe to give you some new flavors to enjoy. Of course your body is perfectly content to eat a simple wholesome diet like this—one that supplies all of its nutritional needs—it’s your mind that complains!
Today we’ll concentrate on stimulating the lymphatic system, a major player in the body’s detoxification processes. As we approach the last few days of the cleanse, supporting this system will ensure that you feel great by the end of the cleanse.
For yoga today, we recommend that you practice two or more of the following classes:
ENERGIZING: Morning Wake up Yoga with Felicia Tomasko
MELLOW: Yoga for the Lymphatic System with Felicia Tomasko
PRANAYAMA: Kapalabhati Pranayama with Shari Fredrichson
MEDITATION: Radiant Heart Qi Gong with Teja Bell
Looking for a different level of practice today? Gentler? More challenging? Visit our resources page for more options.
It’s Sauna Time
Today is an excellent day to take a sauna. This will stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory systems and encourage your body eliminate excess congestion or fat.
- Wet Saunas work well for those with predominantly vata constitutions.
- Dry saunas are more appropriate for predominantly Kapha constitutions.
- People with predominantly Pitta constitutions can typically tolerate either type of sauna bath but because they sweat easily, they should not stay in too long and should finish with a cold rinse or plunge.
Be sure to follow common sense precautions around using a sauna and if you don’t have access to one, a nice hot bath will you give a similar effect.
Blessings!
