Day 1
Welcome to the first day of your Spring Renewal Challenge! The process you are about to start is a variation of purvakarma, a traditional practice intended to promote balance in all three doshas and reduce the stress and agitation in your body and mind. You’ve probably already taken the dosha quiz; if not, go ahead and do that now and then download your customized cleansing protocol and, of course, the recipes.
Keep your pace relaxed today and choose yoga and meditation practices that reflect your energy level.

Every morning when you rise—and several times throughout your day—you’ll drink a 6-ounce glass of warm water, which will help keep you hydrated and will promote healthy elimination. Your meals will be simple—a grain porridge for breakfast and kitchari for lunch and dinner, topped with a delicious chutney. If you have dietary restrictions, you may substitute sesame, olive, or coconut oil for ghee, quinoa for rice, and vegetable soup for the morning porridge. Eating this light diet and drinking the homemade digestive herbal tea will strengthen your digestion and help your body get rid of unhealthy metabolic byproducts from your tissues. About an hour before you go to bed you’ll take two capsules (or ½ teaspoon in hot water) of triphala, a nutritious blend of Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used for their ability to encourage healthy elimination and rejuvenate the body.
An Ayurveda cleanse is not the same as a fast, so make sure you eat enough to feel satisfied but not too full. You want to keep your digestive fire strong and also feel supported emotionally. If you get hungry between meals, eat a few slices of organic apple. If the kitchari isn’t enough, add a side dish of cooked veggies. Chew slowly, eat mindfully and tune into how your body is feeling; that way you’ll know when you’ve had enough.
Welcome to your cleanse!
