Immerse Yourself in the Healing Power of Group Meditation

The Himalayan Institute invites participants around the world to join our year-long group meditation practice. From November 11, 2011, through November 11, 2012, the Himalayan Institute will be the locus of an around-the-clock group meditation (akhanda japa).

Akhanda japa (uninterrupted group meditation) is a time-honored practice in the Himalayan tradition for infusing the collective consciousness with peace and harmony. This ancient practice brings about transformation at the individual level and exerts a positive influence on the entire web of life. It is one of the surest ways to experience our inner divinity and connectedness with all of humanity. This potent group practice creates an environment in which you can easily undertake a personal practice of meditation.

Join Us at the Institute

Commit to yourself and expand your meditation capacity.

Here in Honesdale you will benefit from meditating with others in the charged atmosphere of the sacred space where Swami Rama of the Himalayas resided for twelve years and did his meditation. You will also find the support you need for your inward journey in a variety of inspirational weekend workshops, daily hatha yoga classes, and personal instruction. Weekend retreats or 10-day immersions are easy to plan.

  • Becoming a Premium Member entitles you to attend the 12 core programs of the YLGM and most other weekend seminars tuition-free.
  • Choose any 2 consecutive weekend programs, stay for 10 days, and receive 20% off your accommodations.

Study and Practice at Home

To practice at home, choose a time to sit each day. Start each practice with the intention to connect to the collective consciousness of the group practice.

  • If you have started a special practice, such as Gayatri or Maha Mrityunjaya mantras, or you have a personal initiation mantra, or you have been initiated into the Navarna mantra, this is the perfect time to take your practice to the next level.
  • If you are just beginning a meditation practice, click here for instructions in meditation, setting up a meditation space at home, learning the Gayatri or Maha Mrityunjaya mantras, and more.
  • Study with us from the comfort of home. With your premium membership, you can log-in and view the 12 core programs recorded live and adapted for on-line learning.
