HEALTH AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES*

The Himalayan Institute Total Health Center offers holistic health services and therapeutic treatments designed for prevention, accelerated healing, and long-lasting vitality. Our touch therapies restore a sense of wholeness, and in the context of a healthy diet and stress-reduction training, have been found to be a valuable component in the quest for inner peace. Whether you choose an initial physician evaluation, chiropractic, an ayurvedic or therapeutic body treatment, or a weekend or longer health program, our combined approach to wellness will help to revitalize body and mind.

HEALTH SERVICES

Holistic Medical Evaluation
Holistic healthcare evaluates the whole person (body, energy, mind) and utilizes both modern and natural medicines to treat diseases. It emphasizes diet, exercise, and stress management, which promote true healing over just alleviating the symptoms. Our providers use Ayurveda, yoga, herbs, homeopathy, diet and lifestyle changes as core therapies.
Initial evaluation: 90 minutes – $225.00
Revisits: 30 minutes – $75 / 60 minutes – $145.00

Psychiatric Consultation, Individual Psychotherapy, and Family Therapy
Integrating the practices and principles of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Contemporary Western Psychiatry, Dr. Bradley offers a holistic and comprehensive mental health assessment and treatment plan, based on your unique history. Ongoing psychiatric care may involve interventions derived from Yoga, Ayurveda, or modern psychopharmacology.
Initial evaluation: 90 minutes – $225.00
Revisits: 30 minutes – $75 / 60 minutes – $145.00

Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care involves correcting misalignments in the spine and extremities which allows the nervous system to function optimally.  Utilizing Applied Kinesiology, Dr. Michelle Head performs manual muscle testing to identify areas that need to be addressed. Treatments may involve gentle adjustments to the spine and extremities, recommended changes in diet, and suggestions for stress management.
Initial evaluation: $105.00
Follow-up visits or adjustment only: $40.00
Re-evaluation: $75.00

THERAPEUTIC TREATMENTS

Yoga Therapy
A personalized hatha yoga session tailored to your specific needs. It includes postures (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), relaxation, meditation and cleansing practices effective for your current state of health, flexibility, and strength.
60 minutes – $50.00

Biofeedback
A powerful tool for increasing self-awareness and managing stress. Biofeedback techniques are useful for treating hypertension, headache/migraine, anxiety, and all conditions aggravated by pain and stress.
60 minutes – $85.00

THERAPEUTIC BODY TREATMENTS

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy involves light to deep stroking of soft tissue with or without oil.  Massage boosts the circulation of blood and lymph to remove waste products and nourish the body.  At the Himalayan Institute Total Health Center, we use special oils to address dosha imbalances.

A recent survey of massage therapy research studies shows that massage significantly reduces:

  • blood pressure,
  • heart rate,
  • situation-specific (state) anxiety,
  • anxiety that is related to personality,
  • pain (when evaluated some time after the massage is given), and
  • depression.

Swedish Massage
The most well-known of the massage techniques. The basic strokes are flowing and rhythmical, facilitating and encouraging improved circulation, deep relaxation, and bliss as tension melts away and yields to a state of harmony.
60 minutes – $75.00 / 90 minutes – $115.00

Deep Tissue Massage
This technique helps with chronic muscular pain, muscle spasm, injury rehabilitation, and can reduce inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. The pressure used is specific to your body’s needs and is generally integrated with other massage techniques.
60 minutes – $75.00 / 90 minutes – $115.00 / 120 minutes – $150.00

Treatment Massage Therapy
This approach integrates a variety of massage modalities, techniques, and hydro therapies based on your therapists on-going assessment and your bodies responses. This is a customized process, evolving organically; your therapist will select and add elements as appropriate. Examples of possible elements include: different styles of massage and combination of techniques (for example: neuro-muscular, myofascial, Swedish, cupping, etc) the use of therapeutic oils, heat or cold, and more. Available as a single session or the concept can be enriched through a series of treatments over a period of time.
60-90 Minutes – $75-115.00

Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Massage, often called Thai Yoga Massage, is an invigorating technique that combines acupressure, muscle compression, assisted stretching, and joint mobilization. It is designed to activate and rejuvenate specific energy lines of the body and the client feels relaxed and energized after the session.

Thai Massage has been practiced for thousands of years. It is traditionally performed on a cushioned mat on the floor. The client wears comfortable, flexible clothing (yoga or exercise attire) throughout the session. No oils are used.

Some of the benefits of Thai Massage:

  • Increases and maintains range of motion in the joints, thereby increasing flexibility
  • Relieves sore muscles by promoting flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients to all areas of the body, thus promoting healthy tissues
  • Relieves stiff joints
  • Reduces overall tightness and tension that may be contributing to pain, spasm, cramping, or other discomfort
  • Supports circulation and assists in reducing the “heavy” feeling in legs
  • Promotes relaxation and decreases stress to help reduce unnecessary neuromuscular tension
  • Increases potential for physical activity and athletic pursuits
  • 60 Minutes – $75.00

Lymphatic Massage
Our lymphatic system is cooperatively integrated with our immune system, as well as our physiological vitality. This treatment sequence supports healthy lymphatic functions through a combination of skin brushing, relaxation, and therapeutic steam; a 90 min series that provides a beautiful blend of detoxification and rejuvenation. Includes a self-care kit.
90 Minutes – $105.00

Hot Stone Therapy
The body is stroked with velvet-smooth basalt rocks that have been heated and oiled. The warm stones facilitate the relaxation of muscles and increases circulation and metabolism. Contact with the stones feels grounding and connects you with nature.
90 minutes – $135.00

Myopathic Muscular Therapy
Myopathic Muscular Therapy comes out of the osteopathic tradition and is especially helpful for tight muscles. Gentle compressions are first employed to calm the nervous system. Stubborn knots are then addressed with deeper pressure and stretching small segments of contracted muscle which unblocks the circulation and removes waste products. Over several sessions, muscles begin to remember how to maintain a more relaxed state. Clients report much relief of pain and restriction. Though single sessions can be very helpful, best results are achieved when the treatment is initiated with three sessions over three days. Oils are not used in this therapy
60 minutes – $75.00

Jin Shin Jyutsu
Jin Shin Jyutsu is the art of restoring the body’s subtle energies to optimal functioning. When the energy flows properly, harmony is created in our physical, mental and emotional aspects.

The process involves the application of minimum pressure on sites that “jump-start” the flow of energy throughout the body. The client remains clothed during the treatment. Clients often report feeling deeply relaxed, and many can feel the energy flowing and moving through blockages.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is helpful for everyday ailments as well as deeper trauma. While one session is very helpful, the benefits are greater with repeated sessions (For example, from weekly sessions up to 20 sessions over 10 days). Benefits can be maintained by learning to do Jin Shin Jyutsu on yourself.
60 minutes – $65.00
15 minutes of self-help instruction – $10.00

Shiatsu
Shiatsu stimulates the flow of energy and circulation in the body by applying deep pressure to the meridian points (acupuncture points). Shiatsu is used to create a general sense of well being and relaxation. No massage oil is applied. The client remains clothed during the treatment.
60 minutes – $75.00

Ayurvedic Treatments

Massage
A relaxing and nurturing full-body therapeutic massage with ayurvedic oil. Firmer pressure is used when needed to facilitate the release of chronic tensions.
60 minutes – $75.00

Massage and Steam (Swedhana)
A therapeutic full-body application of ayurvedic oil followed by steam. This treatment promotes gentle cleansing and detoxification.
90 minutes – $105.00

Shirodhara
The pinnacle of ayurvedic treatments, shirodhara, is an ancient method of reconnecting you with your quiet mind. Warm oil is streamed onto the forehead inducing a deep state of relaxation. Shirodhara is followed by a massage to the scalp.
60 minutes – $85.00

Massage and Shirodhara
This combination is excellent for releasing chronic tension and bringing deep and joyful awareness throughout mind and body.
90 minutes – $135.00

Massage, Shirodhara, and Steam (Swedhana) Package
Massage, shirodhara, and steam (swedhana) in one complete package! A great way to release tension and cleanse and rejuvenate the body, mind, and spirit. This is a feature of our Pancha Karma Program.
120 minutes – $165.00

Garshana
A dry exfoliating massage usually performed prior to another body treatment. Garshana sloughs off dead skin cells. It refreshes the complexion and allows increased absorption of nutrients through the skin from the treatment which follows.
15 minutes – $35.00
