I enjoyed 1.5 where PRT encapsulated the methodology for overcoming suffering, and understanding the nature of the world as tools to achieve the meaning and purpose of life. As I heard that lecture, I recall that PRT has spoken about those whose lives appear, from the outside, to be full of misery, e.g. whether the victim of a tsunami, earthquake, disease, hunger, war, etc. To understand the Samkhya world view on this type of suffering, where some may feel that the world is miserable in such drastic circumstances, is there is a good article in YI,or should I return to Yoga of War and Peace or his other book From Death to Birth?

Regarding 1.2, I have two questions. First, the corresponding five subtle elements or essences: smell, taste, form, touch, sound appear to be same to the five cognitive senses: smelling, tasting, seeing, touching, hearing. What is the difference? And, as Purusha comes out of Sankhya school, what is the philosophical school, the origin of another term PRT used in the lecture, Atman, that comes, it sounds like, from non-dualism? By the way, how is Jiva similar or different to Atman?

      Hi Ajit,

We’ll pass this one along as well.

      Thanks for writing us!

Matt – I did not get your two replies forwarded to my email; I did not get a notification saying I should log-in and read your replies as I did with Living Tantra. I thought I turned on the notifications, so not sure what other setting I need to update. Ajit

Hi Ajit, sorry that you didn’t receive any notification. We’ve decided not to use this commenting system on the new site (that you’re going to LOVE BTW) because it’s not met our expectations. Have you clicked on the “Subscribe via email” button at the bottom of this thread? I think that should do it if it’s not the notifications setting you refer to. New sites due out in June / July, so thanks for bearing with us.

I went to reply, to the website, clicked notifications, but am unable to find the message on teh site and reply. Good thing is I got this message. Can’t wait for new website. PRT, while in this area, in Silver Spring MD said it was going live this week!!

Hi there Ajit, here’s a link to the discussion http://www.himalayaninstitute.org/study-online/premium-content/samkhya-philosophy/#comment-882964630

I think you might have misunderstood what Panditji said in reference to the website. He most likely was referring to the release of a guided practice for the Essence of Living Tantra Tour participants that should be ready ON THIS SITE within the next week.

I really wish it were so, but we’ve got a few more gremlins to smite on the new one :D

As I listened to 1.1 I was left wondering about the popular term, Hinduism, which is simply, as I understand, a term used by people who were trying to describe people of the subcontinent and their various philosophies and culture. Is there a good article PRT has written that talks about this term? With thanks!

      Hi Ajit,

We’ve passed your question on to our faculty. Hopefully they’ll have something BRILLIANT to say soon :-)

      Best wishes!
