The Himalayan Institute is located in northeastern Pennsylvania, 6 miles north of the town of Honesdale on PA-670.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP)
is the nearest commercial airport, approximately one hour drive by car.

The total air/ground trip may be faster and less expensive to the New York airports than to the Scranton airport.

Take I-81 North to Exit 187 to US-6 East (Carbondale.) Follow US-6 East for approximately 30 miles into Honesdale. (Note: US-6 becomes a two lane road after Carbondale Exit 7.) Turn left at PA-191 North (Main Street) and go approx. 1/2 mile to PA-670 North (Bethany.) Bear left to PA-670 North and go approximately 5 miles to the Institute on the right (Caution: sharp turn.)

Take I-81 North to Exit 187 US-6 East (Carbondale)/I-84 (Milford)/I-380 East (Mt. Pocono). Follow I-380/I-84 approximately 4 miles to left exit for I-84 East (Milford.) Follow I-84 to Exit 17 for PA-191 North (Honesdale.) Follow PA-191 North for 19 miles to Honesdale. Turn left at traffic light on Main Street (or go to second traffic light and turn left at PA-191 North/US-6 West via Church Street) and go straight to the bridge at the far end of town. Follow PA-191 North (Main Street) out of town for approx. 1/2 mile to PA-670 North (Bethany.); Bear left to PA-670 North and go approx. 5 miles to the Institute on the right (Caution: sharp turn.)
From Philadelphia (4 hours)
Take I-476 North (northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike; portions toll), to Exit 115 (Sranton/I-81 North.) Follow I-380/I-84 approximately 4 miles to left exit for I-84 East (Milford.) Follow I-84 to Exit 17 for PA-191 North (Honesdale.) Follow PA-191 North for 19 miles to Honesdale. Turn left at traffic light on Main Street (or go to second traffic light and turn left at PA-191 North/US- 6 West via Church Street) and go straight to the bridge at the far end of town. Follow PA-191 North (Main Street) out of town for approx. 1/2 mile to PA-670 North (Bethany.) Via Lincoln Tunnel: Bear right onto Highway 3 West. Take Highway 3 West to US-46 West (left exit); proceed to I-80 West. Take I-80 West to Exit 34B to Rt. 15 North which becomes US-206 then US-6 West at Milford, Pa. Follow US-6 West into Honesdale and turn right at the traffic light at Church Street (PA-191 North/US-6 West.) Follow PA-191 North/US-6 West to the bridge at the far end of town and follow PA-191 North (Main Street) out of town for approximately 1/2 mile to PA-670 North (Bethany.) Bear left to PA-670 North and go approximately 5 miles to the Institute on the right (Caution: sharp turn.)

Via George Washington Bridge: Follow I-95 to I-80 West and follow directions from Lincoln Tunnel as above.
From Newark Liberty International Airport (New Jersey)
Take New Jersey Turnpike North to I-280 West. Follow I-280 West to I-80 West and follow directions from New York City as above.
From Binghamton, N.Y.
Take I-81 South to exit for Rt. 92 (Lenox.) Follow Rt. 92 South for approximately 1/2 mile to Rt. 106 East. Follow Rt. 106 East to US-6 East. Follow US-6 East into Honesdale. Turn left at PA-191 North (Main Street) and go approximately 1/2 mile to PA-670 North (Bethany.) Bear left to PA-670 North and go approximately 5 miles to the Institute on the right (Caution: sharp turn.)
From Washington, D. C. (5 hours)
Take I-495 to I-270/West (Gaithersburg/Germantown) to Frederick, Md. Take US- 15 North to Gettysburg, PA. Follow US-15/11 through Camp Hill (business/residential route) to the Susquehanna River turn left following US- 15/11 North, to I-81 North (Harrisburg.) Take I-81 North to Scranton and follow directions from Scranton.
