As an experienced yoga teacher, you desire a trusted space to turn for training, inspiration, and the next step in your professional journey and personal practice. The Himalayan Institute 500-hour Teacher Certification program offers yoga teachers of all traditions an avenue to further deepen their practice and teaching. The program includes advanced studies in teaching methods, sequencing, verbal and hands-on assists, subtle body anatomy, pranayama, mantra meditation, therapeutic applications of yoga, and the study of sacred yoga texts.
The program is presented in ‘Three 10-day segments’ (Spring, Summer, and Fall) which can be taken over 3 years and in any order. This is a fully integrated program designed to explore yoga in depth, and address the individual needs of participants.

Awakening Vital Energy:

Yoga as a Healing Art:
Physical and Psychological Strategies for Cultivating Peace and Health
- The Role of Breath and Pranic energy in healing
- Yoga psychology and philosophy to support mental health
- Mental strategies for coping with pain and suffering
- Yoga for common structural complaints
- Physiology and therapeutic approach to specific illnesses
- Therapeutic teaching skills
- Restorative sequences and application

Advanced Teaching Methods:
Exploring the Heart of Yoga Technique and Philosophy

Certification
The Himalayan Institute is a registered yoga school with the Yoga Alliance (YA). Participants who complete the 500-hr program are eligible to apply for the 500-hour level of registration with YA. Certification requirements include attendance at all three segments, completion of required reading, and a log of 100 teaching hours (completed since receiving your 200-hour certification).
